By accessing or using the Voyager Wellness Foundation website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Description of Services

Voyager Wellness Foundation provides preventive, non-clinical wellness experiences including retreat programs, local activities, and personalized wellness recommendations. Our services are designed for general wellness purposes and are not medical, therapeutic, or clinical in nature.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to register for our programs. Participants under 18 may attend with a registered adult guardian. By registering, you confirm that you are physically capable of participating in the activities described in your selected program.

4. Registration and Payment

Program registration requires payment of applicable fees. All prices are listed in USD. Payment is processed securely through our payment provider. Registration is confirmed upon successful payment processing.

5. Assumption of Risk

Participation in outdoor activities, hiking, and wellness programs involves inherent risks. By registering, you acknowledge and accept these risks and agree to follow all safety guidelines provided by Wellness Path Finder staff.

6. Pet Policy

Pets are welcome at designated pet-friendly programs. Pet owners are responsible for their animals behavior, cleanup, and any damages caused. An additional pet fee applies. Aggressive animals may be asked to leave without refund.

7. Code of Conduct

Participants agree to treat all staff, fellow participants, and property with respect. Wellness Path Finder reserves the right to remove any participant whose behavior is disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful, without refund.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of Voyager Wellness Foundation or Voyager Data Corporation and is protected by intellectual property laws.

9. Limitation of Liability

Voyager Wellness Foundation shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for your program registration.

10. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Orange County, California.

📱 Demo Version Privacy Notice

Current Status: This is a research pilot demo running in privacy-first, localStorage-only mode.

What This Means for Your Privacy:

  • No user accounts or sign-ups - You can use all features without creating an account
  • No payment processing - This demo is completely free
  • No server-side data storage - Your wellness data never leaves your device
  • All data stays in your browser's localStorage - Only you can access it
  • Your employer cannot see your data - Everything is private to your device
  • Anonymized analytics only - We track usage patterns, not individuals (see below)

The privacy policy sections below describe the future full-featured version with retreat bookings and account management. For the current demo, only the localStorage notice and analytics disclosure (below) apply.

Analytics (Demo Version)

We use PostHog for privacy-focused analytics to understand how people use the platform and improve the experience:

  • Anonymized usage patterns only - e.g., which practices are most used, where users get stuck
  • No individual tracking - We cannot identify you personally
  • No session recordings - We do not record your screen or keystrokes
  • No cross-site tracking - We do not track you across other websites
  • Data hosting: PostHog US Cloud (https://us.posthog.com)

You can clear your browser data at any time to reset all tracking. Your wellness data stored in localStorage is separate and will also be deleted.

The sections below describe the privacy policy for the future production version with retreat bookings, user accounts, and payment processing. These features are not active in the current demo.

Information We Collect (Future Production Version)

When retreat booking features are enabled, we will collect information you provide directly, including:

  • Name, email address, and contact information
  • Payment information (processed securely by Stripe)
  • Wellness preferences and questionnaire responses
  • Program registration details
  • Pet information for pet-friendly programs

  • To process registrations and payments

Voyager Wellness Foundation uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to enhance your wellness experience. This disclosure explains how we use AI, what data is processed, and your rights regarding automated decision-making.

How We Use AI and Machine Learning

Current Implementation (Demo Version)

  • Client-side AI only - All AI processing happens in your browser using lightweight models (transformers.js)
  • No server-side AI calls - Your data is not sent to third-party AI providers
  • Pattern recognition - We use rule-based logic and fuzzy matching for wellness recommendations
  • No automated decision-making - AI suggestions are informational only; you maintain full control

Future Implementation (Production Version)

When the full platform launches, we may use:

  • Cloud AI providers - Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or similar services for advanced personalization
  • Behavioral pattern recognition - Lightweight machine learning to understand your wellness patterns
  • Personalized recommendations - AI-generated suggestions based on your usage history
  • RAG-driven content - Retrieval-augmented generation to personalize mindfulness content

What Data Is Used for AI Processing

Data We Process with AI:

  • Wellness questionnaire responses (stress levels, energy, sleep)
  • Mindfulness practice usage patterns (which practices you use, when, for how long)
  • Journal entries and reflections (if you choose to use journaling features)
  • Outdoor activity preferences (hiking, walking, nature exploration)

Data We DO NOT Use with AI:

  • Payment information (never processed by AI)
  • Personal identifiers (name, email, phone - not used for AI training)
  • Location data (ZIP code used for outdoor activities only, not sent to AI)

Vendor-Agnostic Architecture

We maintain a vendor-agnostic AI architecture to:

  • Avoid lock-in - We can switch AI providers without disrupting your experience
  • Optimize costs - We use the most cost-effective AI approach for each feature
  • Protect your data - Your wellness data is not tied to any single AI vendor

Technical Implementation: All AI calls go through our @voyager/ai-client abstraction layer, which allows us to change providers seamlessly.

Your Rights Regarding AI

You have the right to:

  • Understand AI decisions - Request explanations for wellness recommendations
  • Opt out of AI features - Use manual wellness tracking instead of AI-assisted features
  • Delete your AI data - Request deletion of all wellness data used for AI processing
  • Human review - Request human review of any AI-generated wellness recommendations (when available)

No AI Training on Your Data

Important: We do NOT use your personal wellness data to train AI models. Your data is used only to provide you with personalized recommendations.

If we ever change this policy, we will:

  1. Notify you via email 30 days in advance
  2. Require explicit opt-in consent
  3. Provide clear opt-out mechanisms

Voyager Wellness Foundation is committed to using artificial intelligence ethically, transparently, and in alignment with established principles for AI in mental wellness applications.

What "Ethical AI" Means for Mental Wellness

When AI is used for behavioral health, wellness, or mental health applications, ethical considerations become critical. We adhere to the following principles:

1. Do No Harm

  • Wellness, not treatment - Our AI features are for general wellness, not clinical mental health treatment
  • Safety first - AI will never recommend actions that could cause harm
  • Crisis detection - If AI detects crisis language, we direct you to professional resources (988, 741741, 911)
  • No replacement for therapy - AI wellness tools supplement, but never replace, licensed mental health care

2. Transparency and Explainability

  • No "black box" AI - We explain how AI generates wellness recommendations
  • Clear AI labeling - All AI-generated content is clearly marked as such
  • Human oversight - PhD/PsyD clinician partner reviews AI wellness frameworks
  • Open about limitations - We disclose what AI can and cannot do for wellness

3. Privacy and Confidentiality

  • Wellness data protection - Your mental wellness data is treated with the highest confidentiality
  • No data selling - We never sell wellness data to third parties
  • Minimal data collection - We collect only what's necessary for personalization
  • Right to deletion - You can delete all wellness data at any time

4. Fairness and Non-Discrimination

What AI Will NOT Do in Mental Wellness

Our AI features will NEVER:

  • Diagnose mental health conditions (depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.)
  • Prescribe medications or treatments
  • Provide psychotherapy or counseling
  • Replace licensed mental health professionals
  • Make decisions about your wellness without your consent
  • Use manipulative or coercive language
  • Exploit vulnerable mental states for engagement or profit
  • Share your wellness data without your permission

You have the right to:

Refund Policy

Cancellation by Participant

  • 30+ days before program: Full refund minus processing fee
  • 14-29 days before program: Partial refund available
  • Less than 14 days: Credit may be applied to future program

Cancellation by Wellness Path Finder

If we cancel a program due to weather, insufficient enrollment, or other circumstances, you will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to another program date.

Transfers

You may transfer your registration to another person up to 7 days before the program at no additional cost. Contact us at hello@voyagerwellness.org to arrange transfers.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be processed within 5-10 business days to the original payment method.
